Robot Road Run app for iPhone and iPad

Meet flash the emotional robot and help him to avoid hitting human, pets and objects on the road.

This app was created by QApps for LIREC, a research project that explores how we live with digital and interactive robot companions. The robot in the game is based on a real robot that was built for the project. It runs around balancing on two wheels giving it plenty of agility and a range of speeds. Like most robots today FLASH is built with bolts and powered by batteries (robot motors drain batteries very quickly these days), which is why the robot wants to collect these in the game.

We have explored various issues such as: design, ethics, safety, privacy. We found solutions to build emotionally intelligent companions that are capable of long-term relationships with humans. We have prototype robots which entity can migrate across platforms. We have also explored what people experience when our robot personalities move between different robot and graphical bodies.

The real life Flash robot was created by WRUT in Poland as part of the LIREC projects.
